The COVID-19 vaccine will teach your immune system how to recognize and fight the virus that causes COVID-19 so that you may either prevent an infection or have milder infection. The thousands of vaccine trials and the millions of people who have now been vaccinated have demonstrated that serious illness, hospitalization and death can be prevented when people are vaccinated against COVID-19.

Yes. We do not know how long your own body’s immunity from having a COVID-19 infection lasts. From what we now know, natural immunity from COVID-19 may last 6-12 months.
